The Big Sister Foundation supports positive social change for women and families across the St George and Sutherland Shire (SGSS). Through thoughtful philanthropy, strong community relationships and effective grant making, we’ve donated more than $6.8 million to grassroots organisations, delivering vital women’s support services since 2004.

We are seeking to appoint a Volunteer Board Director to strengthen the expertise, diversity and capability of our Board.
This role offers a meaningful opportunity to:
- Contribute to strategic direction and long‑term sustainability
- Support local women’s services
- Work alongside committed, values‑aligned community members
Role Overview
Volunteer Board Directors play an essential role in the Foundation’s governance and strategic leadership. You will contribute to:
- Strengthening relationships across the community sector
- Strategic planning for financially sustainable operations
- Upholding strong, ethical governance practices

We welcome energetic, dedicated individuals who share our commitment to women’s wellbeing in the SGSS community. This role suits a proactive, organised professional who thrives in a purpose‑driven environment and enjoys working closely with a small, collaborative Board. As an inclusive organisation we welcome applicants with diverse skills, backgrounds, and lived experiences
Ideally, you will bring:
- Board or committee experience
- Professional experience in business, government, nonprofit or philanthropy
- Understanding of SGSS community organisations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Availability for monthly board meetings and briefings
Additional skills valued:
- Social media or IT capabilities
- Social impact evaluation experience
- Finance or accounting
- Governance, policy or compliance experience
